Work Together to Put Helmets on In-line Skaters
ANNAPOLIS - In May 1998, Casey Athman, a
Hannah More student, was rollerblading without a helmet when he was hit by a car and died.
Now, his fellow students are working with a state senator to try to make sure other
children do not suffer the same fate by making helmets mandatory for in-line skaters under

Agrees to Pay $575,000 to Settle Unsafe Toaster Dispute
WASHINGTON - Although the settlement hasn't yet been
made official, Black & Decker has agreed to pay the Consumer Product
Safety Commission $575,000 to settle charges that the company failed to
report fire- causing defects in an under-the-cabinet toaster it began

Supreme Court Denies Rockville Attorney's
Petition For Second Time
WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a Rockville
attorney's request that it hear the appeal of his suit against a bankruptcy court that he
said "demonized" him and his former client, an Ellicott City resident. It was
the second defeat in the high court for Tracy Mulligan, who had an earlier appeal of his
case, Tracy E. Mulligan v. Associates Leasing Inc., turned down in July. Go to Story
